CTV National News: Capping foreign workers
I was on CTV News on Monday, being interviewed about the Trudeau government’s cabinet retreat that took place in Halifax, and the statement Sunday by our Prime Minister that his government will unveil an updated immigration plan, including a possible reduction in the number of permanent residents that Canada will accept. The current plan is 500,000 new permanent residents for each of 2025 and 2026. While I do not expect that the new plan will show major surgery and drastic cuts, it is wise to manage our immigration programs so that the numbers align with housing, health care, and labour market considerations.
